Workshop: Ichinawa Play / One Rope

How can we explore another person and ourselves? In this beginner-friendly workshop, we learn this together.

About the session

Ichinawa (一縄) means ”one rope” in Japanese and is a style of Shibari/Kinbaku. This way of tying focuses on touch and flow rather than knots and patterns. The workshop explores this in an easygoing and playful way. Learn to use the rope as a language through which you can curiously explore the person you are tying with. You do not need to know your partner beforehand; you can come alone and find someone on site. The workshop is suitable for beginners who have never held a rope before, as well as those who have practiced shibari for a long time but want a new perspective on how to use their ropes. The goal of this workshop is to feel comfortable creating a feeling using the ropes, both for the person tying and the person being tied. Practical information

• —Doors open: 17:30 - 17:55 Please arrive on time, as we close the door and start at 18:00.
• —You can come alone or with a partner.
• —There is no guarantee of tying or being tied.
• —You are welcome to come just to watch.
• —Light refreshments are available for purchase on site.
• —Bring your own ropes, scissors, and anything else you might want to use when tying. There are also ropes available to borrow and sometimes to buy in our shop.
• —Photography is allowed in the venue, but make sure that everyone in the photo has given their consent both to being photographed and to any potential publication.

Rules

• —We follow Nawa Studio's code of conduct
• —When tying, scissors are always kept nearby
• —No visible genitals in the venue
• —No open beverage containers are allowed in the rope room.
• —Before touching another person's body or belongings, ask for permission and accept a potential No without discussion.
• —Negotiation takes place before tying. We use safe words: red = stop and return to a neutral position, yellow = pause and communicate, green = everything is good/give me more. Tell each other during negotiation if you are unused to using safe words.
