Beginners Eve
Organizer: JacL, Nadie, PollyPerhaps & Blue Lynx
Capturing hands and feet is the foundation of shibari. Learn how.
About the session
A workshop with a high teacher-to-student ratio for beginners, or for those feeling rusty after a long break. We teach the classic safety tie commonly known as the Single Column Tie, as well as a few other options to give you good starting points on different body parts. It might sound simple, but once you master these basics and add your own imagination, you can create an engaging session. If you register as a solo participant, you are expected to want to learn to tie. If you only want to be tied, you will need to find a rigger in advance and register together with them.
Practical information
- Doors open at 18:00. The workshop starts at 18:30. Please be on time.
- If you have them: Bring your own rope and scissors. A short rope, 4 meters, is practical when practicing knots repeatedly. If you do not have rope, do not buy any in advance; borrow ours instead. If you take a liking to shibari, you can buy rope after the workshop in our studio shop.
- Photography is allowed in the venue, but make sure everyone in the photo has given their consent both to the photograph itself and to any publication.
- The café is open and offers hot and cold beverages, pastries, and snacks.
Rules
- Minimum attire is underwear and a tank top.
- No open drink containers are allowed in the rope room.
- Ask for permission before touching another person's body or belongings.
- Negotiation takes place before tying. We use stop words: red = stop and return to a neutral position, yellow = pause and communicate, green = everything is fine/give me more. During negotiation, let each other know if you are unaccustomed to using stop words.
- RACK - Risk Awareness Consensual Kink applies at all events organized by WCK. If you are new to rope, please take a look at this link: https://shibaristudy.com/programs/safety-course
